Job summary

The Commercialisation Associate role at the University of Sydney’s Commercialisation Office focuses on identifying IP suitable for commercial development in Life Sciences, Medtech and Biotech, and developing pathways to translation. You will support Commercialisation Managers, engage researchers, industry and investors, and help execute agreements with external organisations.

This full-time position offers a base salary of $117,133 – $127,610 AUD plus 17% superannuation and flexible working

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in medicine, health or life sciences, biotechnology.
• Commercial experience in medtech, pharmaceuticals or biotech, or university tech transfer is highly desirable.
• Ability to foster an entrepreneurial culture and build partnerships across research, business and government.
• Understanding of the innovation or commercialization lifecycle.
• High level of oral and written communication skills and ability to manage competing demands.
• Experience in or ability to review, develop and negotiate legal contracts.
• Understanding of intellectual property protection and management.
• Ability to assess industrial applicability of advanced technology and marketing of academic research.

Responsibilities

• Work within a tight-knit team, reporting to a Commercialisation Manager managing a portfolio of Medtech and Biotech opportunities.
• Prepare preliminary due diligence evaluations for new invention disclosures using a supported framework.
• Support commercialisation projects through market and competitor analysis, identifying licensees and preparing investor disclosures.
• Analyse technical and scientific literature and research budgets.
• Keep project files and databases up to date in line with protocol and policies.
• Undertake administrative duties required within a university environment.
