Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Commercialisation Associate to join the Commercialisation Office. You will help identify IP for commercial development in Life Sciences, Medtech and Biotech, and support engagement with researchers, industry and investors to translate university research.

You will work with Commercialisation Managers to progress opportunities, prepare due diligence, analyse markets and negotiate related agreements within a university setting.

Qualifications

• High level of oral and written communication skills and ability to manage competing demands.
• Ability to foster an entrepreneurial culture and build partnerships between research, industry and government.
• Understanding of the innovation or commercialisation lifecycle.
• Experience in or ability to review, develop and negotiate legal contracts.
• Understanding of intellectual property protection and management.

Responsibilities

• Work within a tight-knit team, reporting to a Commercialisation Manager handling Medtech and Biotech opportunities.
• Prepare preliminary due diligence evaluations for new invention disclosures using a structured framework.
• Support commercialisation projects through market and competitor analysis, and identify potential licensees.
• Analyse technical and scientific literature and research budgets.
• Ensure project files and databases are kept up to date in line with protocol and policies.
• Undertake appropriate administrative duties required of working within a university environment.
