United Refrigeration (Australia) Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic to join our service team in Melbourne, VIC. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing commercial refrigeration systems for our diverse client base. As a Commercial Refrigeration Mechanic, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance and troubleshooting of refrigeration equipment across a variety of commercial settings. This position is essential to ensuring our clients' operations run smoothly and their refrigeration systems operate at peak efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain, repair commercial refrigeration systems and equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in refrigeration units using appropriate testing equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and system specifications
• Conduct pressure and temperature testing on refrigeration circuits
• Replace faulty components including compressors, motors, valves, thermostats and controls
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards
• Maintain detailed records of service work, repairs and maintenance activities
• Provide technical support and advice to customers regarding their refrigeration systems
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls and breakdowns

What we’re looking for

• Completed apprenticeship in refrigeration and air conditioning
• Current Electrical D License
• Minimum 3-5 years of practical experience in commercial refrigeration maintenance and repair
• Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration principles, thermodynamics and system operation
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Physical capability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required
• Valid driver's license
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Commitment to health and safety compliance in the workplace
