Job summary

Flight Centre Travel Group Australia is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to shape pragmatic, commercially focused advice across a broad range of matters. You will report to the Group General Counsel and collaborate with leaders, board members, and external partners to navigate complex challenges and enable growth.

The role is a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential extension or permanent opportunity, reflecting the dynamic, global nature of the business.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years' post-admission experience (PAE).
• Experience across commercial contracting, either in a reputable law firm, in-house legal team, or through relevant secondment.
• A commercially savvy approach with practical legal solutions.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliable, accurate, and commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal matters.
• Draft, negotiate, review, and manage cross-board commercial agreements from inception to execution and ongoing administration.
• Support corporate actions, including board and shareholder resolutions and restructuring.
• Provide legal support and guidance on mergers and acquisitions activities.
• Advise on procurement, IT vendor, consulting services, and commercial contracting arrangements.
• Identify and manage contractual, legal and regulatory risks.
• Provide advice on Competition and Consumer Law matters, including reviewing marketing content.
• Partner with operational teams and senior leaders to identify and mitigate legal risks.
• Liaise with external law firms, regulatory bodies and suppliers as required.
• Deliver commercially pragmatic solutions balancing legal requirements with business objectives.
• Contribute to ongoing legal process improvements and risk management initiatives.
