Job summary

Downer is seeking a Commercial Manager for its Health and Education team in Australia. The role focuses on leading commercial performance across PPP contracts, embedding contractual discipline, and delivering high-quality outcomes for essential services.

The position is a 12+ month contract commencing January 2027, reporting to the Head of Commercial. You will manage variations, claims, and disputes while coordinating with operations to drive value and manage risk.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in law, commerce, finance, engineering or similar.
• Extensive commercial or contract management experience in PPP facilities or asset management environments.
• Experience managing scope expansion, variations, KPI and abatement regimes, disputes and claims.
• Advanced commercial, financial and negotiation capability with governance approvals.
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to perform under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contractual matters across allocated contracts, including obligations, entitlements, variations, claims and disputes.
• Partner with operational leaders to identify, record, escalate and resolve commercial issues.
• Drive risk and opportunity management, including governance and risk register ownership.
• Lead negotiations and commercial management of upstream contracts, subcontracts and supply arrangements.
• Analyse project valuations and contract performance to identify recovery opportunities and implement strategies.
