Job summary

Brennan is seeking a Sydney-based Commercial Finance Manager to lead FP&A, budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis, partnering with senior leaders to drive commercial decisions. You'll turn financial insight into action, build models and scenarios, and champion data, automation and AI-enabled tools to reduce manual work while improving insights across the business.

The Role

We're looking for a Sydney-based Commercial Finance Manager - FP&A and Business Partnering to help our leaders better understand business performance and make stronger commercial decisions. Business partnering is at the heart of this role. You'll work closely with senior leaders across the business, helping them understand not just what is happening in the numbers, but why, and what actions we should take. You'll bring strong FP&A skills across planning, forecasting, modelling and performance analysis, but your biggest impact will come from turning that financial insight into real business outcomes. You'll also help us improve how Finance works, using better data, automation and AI-enabled tools to reduce manual work and provide faster, more useful insights. As Brennan continues to grow, you'll help strengthen our FP&A and business partnering capability across the business.

Your key responsibilities

• Partner closely with senior leaders across the business, providing commercial insight, constructive challenge and practical support for decision-making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis, focusing on why performance is changing and what actions the business should take.
• Turn complex financial data into clear insights and recommendations that improve business performance.
• Build financial models, business cases and scenarios to support investment, growth and other commercial decisions.
• Analyse customer, product and service profitability and identify opportunities to improve margins and performance.
• Support pricing, acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.
• Improve how Finance works through better use of data, dashboards, automation and AI-enabled tools.
• Help bring together and strengthen our FP&A and business partnering capability as the business continues to grow.

Skills you need to be successful in the role

• A degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related field, with CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong experience across commercial finance, FP&A and finance business partnering.
• Experience working in a large or complex organisation, partnering with a broad range of senior stakeholders.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and analysis skills, with the ability to get into the detail and understand when something doesn't look right.
• Strong commercial thinking, with the ability to understand why performance is changing and turn financial insight into action.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with, influence and constructively challenge senior leaders.
• A proactive approach to business partnering, with a track record of going beyond reporting the numbers to help deliver better business outcomes.
• Curiosity and interest in using data, automation and AI to improve how Finance works.

The following experience will be highly regarded

• Experience in technology, professional services, consulting or another complex service-based business.
• Experience supporting multiple business areas, services or senior stakeholders, rather than a single business unit.
• Exposure to pricing, investment analysis, business cases, acquisitions or scenario modelling.
• Experience improving reporting, dashboards or finance processes through data, automation or AI-enabled tools.
• Experience working through change and helping improve or build an FP&A or business partnering function.
• People leadership experience, with the ability to build and develop a strong finance team as the function grows.
