Job summary

LOD (Lawyers On Demand) is partnered with a leading Australian energy company to recruit a commercial lawyer for a 10-month secondment. The role is full-time and based in Sydney, supporting a diversified portfolio of generation and renewable energy assets.

The successful candidate will draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on regulatory developments, and provide practical, commercially focused legal guidance to the business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years PQE, ideally from top or mid-tier law firms or in-house.
• Strong commercial contracting experience and ability to provide strategic legal advice.
• Experience in energy, infrastructure, construction or projects sectors is highly regarded.
• Ability to work autonomously and build trusted relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
• Advise on legal matters relating to large-scale generation assets, including traditional and renewable energy operations.
• Support renewable energy projects (wind farms, battery energy storage systems, hydro assets).
• Lead and support commercial negotiations with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage complex legal matters and provide practical, commercially focused advice.
• Advise on regulatory developments and business change initiatives where required.
