Job summary

Agilitus is seeking a Commercial Contracts Advisor to provide proactive commercial and contractual support across tendering, pre-contract and project delivery activities. You will review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, identify risks, and advise internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with governance and commercial objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law, Commerce, Business or related discipline.
• 6–8 years' experience in commercial contracts or related roles.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong understanding of contract law and risk allocation.
• Excellent written skills for clear contractual advice.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyse client contracts, tender documentation and terms to identify contractual risks, obligations and opportunities.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, contract amendments, departures and related legal documentation.
• Provide practical advice on contract interpretation, risk allocation, contractual obligations and commercial matters.
• Support tender and pre-contract activities through contractual review, risk assessment and the development of mitigation strategies.
• Prepare contract summaries, risk assessments and contractual recommendations for internal review and approval.
• Collaborate with project, operational and commercial stakeholders to achieve balanced and commercially sound outcomes.
• Ensure contractual arrangements align with Agilitus's governance framework, Delegation of Authority requirements and insurance obligations.

The Commercial Contracts Advisor provides proactive commercial and contractual support across Agilitus' tendering, pre-contract and project delivery activities. Working within the Commercial team, the role is responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, identifying and managing contractual risks, and providing practical commercial and contractual advice to internal stakeholders. The Commercial Contracts Advisor supports informed decision-making by ensuring contractual arrangements align with Agilitus' governance framework, risk appetite and commercial objectives.

The role works closely with project, operational and leadership teams to facilitate effective contract management, balanced risk allocation and commercially sound outcomes while protecting Agilitus' interests and supporting successful project delivery.

Responsibilities include:

• Review and analyse client contracts, tender documentation and commercial terms to identify contractual risks, obligations and opportunities.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, contract amendments, departures and related legal documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Law, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
• Approximately 6-8 years' experience in commercial contracts, commercial law, corporate law, legal counsel or contract advisory roles.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and legal agreements.
• Strong understanding of contract law, commercial risk allocation and contract negotiation principles.
• Ability to identify legal and commercial risks and provide practical, business-focused recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and build effective working relationships.
• Excellent written skills, including the ability to prepare clear contractual advice, risk assessments and briefing papers.
• Experience within engineering, mining, resources, infrastructure, construction or professional services environments will be highly regarded.
