Job description

We're looking for a sharp, commercially minded analyst who's hungry to go beyond the spreadsheet. Someone who can turn complex data into clear stories, build reporting tools the whole business trusts, and partner with Sales, Supply Chain and Operations to drive real performance.

If you're 2-5 years into your finance or commercial career and ready to step up into something with genuine impact, read on.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in turning data into meaningful commercial insights for the NZ Sugar business. You’ll develop and improve reporting and analytical tools, from daily sales dashboards through to forecasting and planning, helping our teams and leaders make informed, commercially sound decisions.

This isn't a back-office number-crunching role. You'll be embedded in the heart of the commercial operation, partnering across the business to deliver expert analysis that drive real commercial outcomes.

What You’ll Own:
  • Build, maintain and continuously improve dashboards and reporting tools that give teams and leaders clear visibility of business performance.
  • Deliver accurate, timely and trusted reporting, creating a consistent source of information for decision-making.
  • Turn data into clear, actionable insights across performance, variances to plan, demand trends, promotional performance, rebates, risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Sales, providing commercial and financial analysis that supports better decisions and builds commercial capability across the team.
  • Drive adoption of Power BI and Tableau, building self-service analytics capability and reducing reliance on manual reporting.
  • Support financial forecasting and month-end processes, maintaining data integrity, investigating discrepancies, and highlighting risks.
  • Contribute to Strategic Plan, Budget and S&OP financial inputs, partnering with Sales and Supply Chain to support robust planning.
  • Develop costing and tender models, business cases and analysis that support key commercial decisions.
What you’ll bring:

You're not the type to wait to be told what to look at. You spot the story in the data before anyone asks for it. You bring energy to the numbers, and you know how to communicate insight in a way that actually lands with a sales team or a CEO.

  • 2-5 years' experience in commercial finance, FP&A, business analysis or similar analytical role, ideally within FMCG, retail or manufacturing.
  • Strong Excel skills with hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Solid grounding in core accounting - P&L, Balance Sheet, General Ledger - with real experience posting month-end journals
  • A track record in forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis that goes beyond the basics
  • Natural communicator who can translate financial complexity into actionable business insight
  • High-energy, collaborative style with the confidence to challenge, the humility to listen, and the drive to deliver
  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
  • Eligible to work in New Zealand immediately
