Job summary

Stuart Alexander & Co is a leading FMCG importer and distributor in Australia, with a strong focus on brand performance across Australia and New Zealand. The Finance role reports to the Head of Finance and combines financial oversight with commercial partnering.

The candidate will lead FP&A, drive monthly reviews, budgeting and forecasting, and mentor a Finance Analyst in a fast-paced environment supporting iconic consumer brands.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or Finance, with CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong experience in FP&A, financial control and management reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and ERP systems experience; Power BI exposure valued.
• Solid understanding of accounting standards, controls and compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; FMCG or commercial finance experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly performance reviews, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting with a focus on Australia and New Zealand.
• Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain and other teams on commercial decisions, pricing, cost management and NPD proposals.
• Oversee month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and system integrity.
• Develop and enhance financial models, BI reporting and dashboards for actionable insights.
• Support compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements and audits across ANZ.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting consistency.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to the Finance Analyst and foster team development.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll play a key role in supporting business performance, strengthening financial controls and providing meaningful insights to support strategic decision-making. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, particularly our Marketing teams, to bring a strong financial perspective to commercial decisions. You’ll also lead and support a Finance Analyst, helping build capability within the team and drive continuous improvement across our finance processes. What You’ll Be Doing

• Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead monthly performance reviews, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, providing clear insights into business performance across Australia and New Zealand.
• Commercial Business Partnering: Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain and other teams to support commercial decisions, pricing strategies, cost management and new product development proposals.
• Financial Control: Oversee month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting and the integrity of our financial systems across both entities.
• Reporting & Analytics: Develop and enhance financial models, BI reporting and dashboards to turn complex data into actionable business insights.
• Compliance & Governance: Support compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax requirements and statutory obligations across Australia and New Zealand, while coordinating annual audits.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen financial controls and improve reporting consistency across both markets.
• People Leadership: Provide day-to-day guidance and support to the Finance Analyst, fostering collaboration, development and high-quality delivery.

About You

You’re an analytical and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working beyond the numbers. You’re comfortable challenging assumptions, building relationships with stakeholders and translating financial information into clear, practical recommendations.

You’ll ideally bring:

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, together with a completed CA or CPA qualification (required).
• Strong experience in financial planning and analysis, financial control and management reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; exposure to BI tools such as Power BI is highly regarded.
• A solid understanding of accounting standards, financial controls and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make financial information accessible to non-finance teams.
• Previous experience in FMCG, commercial finance or team leadership will be highly regarded.
