Job summary

Shadbolt Group is seeking a coded welder to join our Sydney operations on a permanent full-time basis. You will perform welding across multiple procedures, interpret drawings and weld maps, and deliver quality workmanship on Defence, infrastructure and industrial projects.

Based in Sydney, you will contribute to safe, compliant fabrication, collaborate with a skilled team, and support continuous improvement on complex engineering work.

Qualifications

• Must hold a welding trade qualification and coded welder certification.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and weld maps.
• Experience with MIG/MAG, TIG, FCAW and MMA processes.
• Defence or heavy engineering experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality welding across multiple processes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and weld maps.
• Carry out structural fabrication and complex welding to a high standard.
• Carry out visual inspections to ensure weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Work with carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials as required.

We are seeking an experienced Coded Welder to join our Sydney operations. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a highly skilled welder who is confident working across multiple welding procedures and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.

About The Role

Working as part of our experienced Sydney team, you will be responsible for welding and fabrication activities across a range of complex engineering projects.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Performing high-quality welding across multiple processes and procedures.
• Working to approved welding procedures, specifications and quality requirements.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, weld maps and specifications.
• Completing structural and complex fabrication work to a high standard.
• Carrying out visual inspections and ensuring weld quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Working with carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials as required.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and productive work environment.
• Working collaboratively with tradespeople, supervisors, project teams and clients.
• Ensuring all work complies with Shadbolt's safety, quality and environmental requirements.

About you

We are looking for an experienced tradesperson who can demonstrate:

• Trade qualification in Welding
• Must be an Australian Citizen (defence related work)
• Demonstrated experience as a coded welder.
• Current and relevant welding qualifications/codings across multiple procedures.
• Strong experience with multiple welding processes, such as MIG/MAG, TIG, FCAW and/or MMA.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications.
• Strong understanding of welding procedures, tolerances and quality requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong safety awareness and a professional approach to work.
• Previous experience in Defence, heavy engineering, structural fabrication or complex manufacturing will be highly regarded.
