Job summary

Tweed Shire Council is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to lead urban design, placemaking and heritage initiatives across the Shire. You will influence planning outcomes, guide development, and collaborate with Council, industry, stakeholders and community to shape vibrant, sustainable places.

Based in Murwillumbah with flexible work options, the role offers a base salary of AU$123,791–AU$137,643 per year plus 12% super, a 70-hour 9-day fortnight, and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in Urban Design, Town Planning, Architecture or related discipline.
• Experience in urban design, planning, heritage and conservation principles.
• Ability to manage proposals and engage stakeholders across projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert urban design, heritage and placemaking advice to support strategic planning and development proposals across the Shire.
• Lead research, analysis and policy development on land use, urban design and heritage matters.
• Collaborate with strategic planners, Council teams, developers, consultants and community stakeholders to achieve positive planning and design outcomes.
• Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations and correspondence for Council and government agencies.
• Manage and contribute to strategic projects, including procurement, stakeholder engagement, consultant management, budgeting and reporting.
• Represent Council as a specialist urban design advisor on planning strategies and public domain projects.
