Job summary

Marand Precision Engineering in Melbourne is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with programming skills to join our defence, aerospace and Australian manufacturing teams. You will work on complex, high-precision components using 3- and 5-axis machining centres.

This role goes beyond setup; you’ll program, set and operate machines, read engineering drawings, and apply CAM software to challenging parts. We value quality, initiative and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC machining experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong CNC programming capability.
• Experience operating 3 and 5-axis machining centres.
• Experience with Heidenhain, Siemens and/or Fanuc controls.
• CAM programming experience (Mastercam, PowerMill or similar) highly regarded.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• A proactive, team-focused approach and a genuine passion for machining.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC milling machines.
• Manufacture high-precision components to strict tolerances.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Select and utilise precision measuring equipment to verify accuracy.
• Conduct quality checks and maintain exceptional workmanship standards.
• Follow safe work practices with a strong "Safety Before Production" mindset.
• Collaborate with a highly skilled team to achieve production objectives.
