Recruit Australia is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Setter for a permanent afternoon shift in the Braeside area, Melbourne. The role offers a genuine 4‑day working week with a fixed Monday–Thursday schedule from 2:00pm to midnight.

You will operate and set Okuma Horizontal Machining Centres, perform tool changes, and contribute to high‑quality, precision component production for Defence, Aerospace, Medical, Rail and Mining sectors.

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machining and setting on modern machining centres.
• Okuma experience is highly regarded by the employer.
• Experience with horizontal machining centres is an advantage.
• Mastercam experience is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• High attention to detail and quality workmanship required.

Responsabilités

• Operate and set CNC machines, performing tool changes and offsets.
• Monitor tooling, offsets and machining conditions to maintain quality and production efficiency.
• Support setup, changeovers, inspection and production readiness for 4‑day week schedule.
• Read blueprints and verify tolerances using precision measuring equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful Australian-owned precision engineering business based in the Braeside area. The company specialises in the manufacture of high-precision components and assemblies for industries including Defence, Aerospace, Medical, Rail and Mining.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Setter to join their permanent afternoon shift.

This position offers a genuine 4-day working week, Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm to midnight, giving you Friday, Saturday and Sunday off every week.

You will be working in a modern, clean and highly technical machining environment, primarily operating and setting Okuma Horizontal Machining Centres.

The role is approximately 70% production machining and 30% machine setting, changeovers, inspection, tooling adjustments and production support. You will be responsible for producing high-quality precision components while monitoring tooling, offsets and machining conditions to maintain quality and production efficiency.

Experience with horizontal machining centres, multi-pallet systems or multi-axis machining would be highly regarded. Experience with Mastercam would also be an advantage.

You will need to be comfortable reading engineering drawings, setting machines, selecting and adjusting tooling, making offset changes and using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
