Job summary

Danca Engineering is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer/Setter to join our skilled trades team in Girraween, NSW. This full-time role involves operating and programming advanced CNC machinery to produce precision components and fittings, with a focus on quality and efficiency.

You will set up, program, and operate CNC mills and lathes, read engineering drawings, and perform routine maintenance while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or equivalent experience in CNC machining, toolmaking or mechanical engineering.
• Proven experience as a CNC machinist with demonstrated proficiency in setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes.
• Strong programming skills in G-code and experience with CAM software packages.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machine tools including mills, lathes and turning centers to manufacture precision components and fittings.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software and G-code to specifications, optimizing toolpaths for efficiency and accuracy.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure manufactured parts meet exact tolerances and quality requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance and tool changes on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Conduct regular quality inspections and measurements using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers and gauges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming and machine operation issues to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production runs, materials used and any adjustments made.
• Work collaboratively with the production team to meet delivery schedules and production targets.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment.

What we're looking for

• Trade qualification or equivalent experience in CNC machining, toolmaking or mechanical engineering
• Proven experience as a CNC machinist with demonstrated proficiency in setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes
• Strong programming skills in G-code and experience with CAM software packages
• Solid understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and measurement techniques
• Competence in using precision measuring instruments and quality control procedures
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues effectively
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Valid driver's license and willingness to comply with all workplace health and safety requirements
• Experience with DMG Mori and Doosan machines would be an advantage
