Job summary

Randstad seeks an experienced CNC Machinist for a hands-on role in Camperdown, Sydney. You will set up and run a SYIL X9 CNC mill using Siemens 828D, producing prototype and small-batch parts in stainless steel and aluminum.

You will interpret drawings and CAD models, work autonomously in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with engineers and fabricators to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required: Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter / Machinist) or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on CNC milling experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens 828D controls.
• Experience machining stainless steel (316) and aluminum.
• Autonomous, adaptable, fast-paced prototype environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate a SYIL X9 CNC mill with Siemens 828D controls.
• Machine prototype parts, manifolds, and cooling loops to engineering tolerances.
• Work with materials primarily 316 stainless steel and aluminum.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications independently.

Are you an experienced, hands-on CNC Machinist looking for a well-paid role in a dynamic R&D environment?

We are seeking an autonomous CNC Machinist to join an innovative hardware engineering team in Camperdown. Operating a SYIL X9 CNC Mill running Siemens 828D controls, you will produce low-volume, prototype, and small-batch components across various materials—including 316 stainless steel and aluminum.

Primary Key Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate a SYIL X9 CNC mill with Siemens 828D controls.

• Machine prototype parts, custom manifolds, and cooling loops to standard engineering tolerances.

• Work with a range of materials, primarily focusing on 316 Stainless Steel and Aluminum.

• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications independently.

• Collaborate closely with engineers, fabricators, and assemblers to ensure continuous workflow.

What We Are Looking For

• Trade Qualification: Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter / Machinist) or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling machinery.

• Siemens Controls Mastery: Hands-on experience operating/programming Siemens 828D controls (this is a key requirement for the role).

• Material Expertise: Proven experience machining stainless steel (316) and aluminum efficiently.

• Mindset: Autonomous, adaptable, comfortable in a fast-paced prototype environment, and willing to assist across broader workshop tasks where needed.
