Job summary

Tops in Stone in Cardiff, NSW, is seeking a very good CNC Machine Operator to join our workshop that produces high-quality stone benchtops and components. You’ll work with equipment including a Donatoni Jet bridge saw and an Intermac Master CNC, read drawings, and own your part of the workshop by setting up, running and maintaining machines.

If you’re reliable, mechanically minded and want growth, we’ll value your experience and offer a stable role with overtime and occasional Saturday work,

Qualifications

• Solid CNC operating experience in manufacturing, machining or fabrication.
• Reading drawings and measurements accurately.
• You understand that millimetres matter and care about quality and safety.
• Reliable and punctual; turn up and do what you say.

Responsibilities

• Inspect finished work for quality and tolerance.

Not because we need someone to stand beside a machine and push buttons.

We’re looking for someone who understands machinery.

Someone who notices when something doesn’t sound right.

Someone who takes pride in getting a job spot-on.

Someone who treats the machine they operate like it’s theirs.

And someone who wants to become seriously good at what they do.

Here’s what you’ll be working with.

Our workshop produces high-quality stone benchtops and components.

You’ll work with equipment including our Donatoni Jet bridge saw and Intermac Master CNC.

If you already know those machines, we’d especially like to talk.

If you don’t, that’s not necessarily a deal breaker.

Good CNC experience from manufacturing, machining or fabrication could be enough.

We can teach stone.

It’s much harder to teach someone to care.

We want you to own your part of the workshop.

This isn’t a job where every decision gets made for you.

We want someone who understands their machinery.

Set it properly.

Run it properly.

Look after it.

Spot problems early.

Find better ways of doing things.

Reduce waste.

And produce work you’re proud to put your name against.

If you’ve got ideas, we want to hear them.

If something isn’t working, speak up.

If there’s a better way, show us.

That’s the sort of operator we’re looking for.

And there is somewhere to go.

What do we actually care about?

You need solid CNC operating experience.

Stone industry experience would be excellent, but it isn’t essential.

You should be mechanically minded.

You need to read drawings and measurements accurately.

You need to understand that a few millimetres can matter.

You need to care about quality, safety and looking after equipment.

Most importantly, you need to be reliable.

Turn up.

Do what you say you’ll do.

Help the person beside you.

Take some pride in the place.

Leave things better than you found them.

Pretty simple really.

What about the money?

$30–$45 per hour, plus overtime.

Your rate depends on what you bring with you.

If you’re highly experienced and can operate independently, we’ll recognise that.

If you’ve got strong CNC skills but need to learn stone, let’s talk.

We’re more interested in finding the right person than ticking every box.

The hours aren’t bad either.

Monday to Thursday: 6:30am - 3:30pm
Friday: 6:30am - 1:30pm

There will be overtime and occasional Saturday work when required.

And Friday finishes early.

We fire up the BBQ for the team too.

You don’t need to decide anything today.
