Job summary

TheDriveGroup is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join its internal cyber security team in Sydney, Australia. The role blends hands-on security engineering with an uplift initiative across cloud security and DevOps practices.

A core focus is automation and AI to enhance security at scale, including SIEM/XDR, vulnerability management, and tooling across AWS and Azure. The candidate will stay technically hands-on while maturing the broader security environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with cloud security across AWS/Azure.
• Experience with automation and security tooling.

Responsibilities

• Operate and improve security monitoring (SIEM/XDR) and detection tooling.
• Drive cloud security engineering across AWS/Azure and secure architectures.
• Automate security processes and enable rapid uplift across the cyber program.

Job description

I’m looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to join an internal cyber security team, working across hands-on Security Engineering and wider cyber uplift.

The role is roughly 50% hands-on engineering / 50% uplift, with a big focus on using automation & AI to improve security at scale.

You’ll work across:

• SIEM, XDR & security monitoring
• Detection engineering & security tooling
• Cloud security across AWS / Azure
• Vulnerability management & remediation
• Automation through DevOps tooling
• Python / scripting & security automation

We’re looking for someone with a strong Security Engineering background who also understands modern cloud and DevOps practices.

A big part of the role will be identifying manual security processes and finding ways to automate, integrate and improve them using engineering and DevOps tooling.

Ideal for a Security Engineer who wants to stay technically hands-on while having the freedom to build, automate and mature the wider cyber environment.
