Job summary

Talenza is partnering with a leading Australian organisation to hire a Security Engineer for a hands-on role focused on engineering, maintaining and enhancing security controls across a predominantly Microsoft environment.

The role collaborates with infrastructure, cloud, and technology teams to strengthen security posture, respond to threats, and optimise security platforms in a largely Windows-based environment with some Linux infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Security Engineer.
• Strong Microsoft security background with Defender, Entra ID/Azure AD, M365, and Azure security services.
• Experience securing Windows servers and endpoints; exposure to Linux.
• Hands-on with CrowdStrike, Netskope, and Mimecast desirable.
• Solid understanding of security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat detection.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to drive security improvements.

• Engineer, maintain, and improve security technologies across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Partner with infra and application teams to implement security controls and improve cyber maturity.

About the Role

We're partnering with a leading Australian organisation looking to add a Security Engineer to their growing cyber security team. This is a hands‑on role focused on engineering, maintaining, and enhancing security controls across a predominantly Microsoft environment.

You'll work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and technology teams to strengthen security posture, respond to emerging threats, and optimise key cyber security platforms. The environment is largely Windows‑based, with some Linux infrastructure, and a strong focus on Microsoft technologies.

Experience Required

• Proven experience working as a Security Engineer.
• Strong Microsoft security background across technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Entra ID (Azure AD), M365, and Azure security services.
• Experience securing Windows server and endpoint environments, with exposure to Linux systems.
• Hands‑on experience with CrowdStrike, Netskope, and/or Mimecast would be highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat detection.
• Ability to work across technical and business stakeholders to drive security improvements and best practices.
