Job summary

Showtime Consulting in Canberra is seeking an experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, secure, and maintain cloud and on‑premises infrastructure that supports mission‑critical environments.

You will work with architecture, security, and DevSecOps teams across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenStack, VMware, and containerised platforms to deliver resilient, compliant systems for defence programs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Infrastructure/Cloud Engineer in enterprise or defence sectors.
• Experience deploying cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, VMware, OpenStack.
• Proficient in Terraform, ARM, Bicep for IaC.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong networking knowledge: firewalls, VPNs, routing, secure architectures.
• Experience administering Linux and Windows servers.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team in Canberra.

This is a hands‑on engineering role supporting a diverse portfolio of Defence, space, and classified technology programs. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining cloud and on‑premises infrastructure that supports mission‑critical environments.

Working closely with architecture, security, and DevSecOps teams, you will contribute to the delivery of highly secure platforms across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenStack, VMware, and containerised environments. You will play a key role in building resilient, scalable, and compliant infrastructure solutions while supporting ongoing operational requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of cutting‑edge projects, including secure cloud platforms, classified infrastructure, satellite and space systems, and cross‑domain technologies supporting some of Australia's most important national capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support secure cloud and on‑premises infrastructure solutions.
• Deploy and manage environments across Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, OpenStack, and VMware platforms.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using technologies such as Terraform, ARM, and Bicep.
• Support DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Configure, secure, and manage Linux and Windows server environments.
• Implement and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, routing, and secure connectivity.
• Support containerised and virtualised workloads across enterprise and classified environments.
• Monitor platform performance, availability, and security posture while responding to incidents and operational issues.
• Contribute to system hardening, compliance activities, and security accreditation requirements.
• Work with architects and stakeholders to develop technical designs and implementation strategies.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
• Support the continuous improvement of infrastructure standards, automation capabilities, and security controls.

What You’ll Need

• Demonstrated experience as an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role.
• Experience deploying and supporting cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, VMware, and/or OpenStack.
• Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM, Bicep, or similar technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps or DevSecOps practices.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, and secure architectures.
• Experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems within enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Docker.
• Experience implementing security controls and hardening infrastructure within regulated environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Experience working within Defence, government, or other highly secure environments will be highly regarded.
