Job summary

Showtime Consulting is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support secure enterprise infrastructure within Defence and government environments. You will design, implement, operate, and optimise on-premises and cloud infrastructure across virtualization, servers, storage, Windows and Linux OS, networking, and emerging tech such as containerisation and AI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on infra engineering across enterprise environments.
• Experience with VMware and/or Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
• Experience supporting enterprise server, storage, and SAN infrastructure.
• Strong Windows Server and Linux administration skills.
• Practical networking experience: TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls, troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing infrastructure solutions within secure Defence or government environments.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, containers, or container platforms desirable.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud beneficial.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, and maintain secure on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
• Engineer and support VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization environments.
• Configure and maintain Dell server, storage, and SAN infrastructure.
• Administer and support Windows Server, RHEL, and SUSE environments.
• Support enterprise networking including switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and segmentation.
• Build and support containerised platforms and related infrastructure services.
• Implement infrastructure hardening, patching, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, network, storage, and performance issues.
• Support highly available and resilient infrastructure platforms in secure environments.
• Contribute to automation, configuration management, and platform improvement initiatives.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support secure enterprise infrastructure platforms within complex Defence and government environments.

This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and optimisation of on-premises and cloud infrastructure across highly secure environments. You will work across enterprise platforms including virtualisation, server and storage infrastructure, Windows and Linux operating systems, networking, and emerging technologies such as containerisation and AI infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and SUSE Linux environments.
• Support enterprise networking including switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and segmentation.
• Build and support containerised platforms and associated infrastructure services.
• Implement infrastructure hardening, patching, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation activities.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, operating system, network, storage, and performance issues.
• Support highly available and resilient infrastructure platforms in secure environments.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation, configuration management, and platform improvement initiatives.

What You'll Need

• Strong hands-on infrastructure engineering experience across enterprise environments.
• Experience with VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualisation platforms.
• Experience supporting enterprise server, storage, and SAN infrastructure.
• Strong Windows Server and Linux administration skills.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or SUSE Linux is highly regarded.
• Practical networking experience covering TCP/IP, switching, routing, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience implementing infrastructure solutions within secure, Defence, or government environments.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, containers, or container platforms is highly desirable.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud is beneficial.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
