Job summary

Westpac Group is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the Enterprise and Compute Storage Services team. You will build and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure (AKS), automate deployments, and support secure, scalable platforms across critical banking applications.

Job description

What’s the role?

Join our Enterprise and Compute Storage Services team and help deliver secure, reliable and scalable cloud platforms that support critical applications across Westpac. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you'll work hands‑on with Microsoft Azure and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), building and maintaining cloud infrastructure, automating deployments and supporting modern application platforms. You'll partner with engineering, architecture and security teams to improve platform performance, reliability and security while enabling teams to adopt DevOps practices and cloud‑native technologies.

A key part of the role involves supporting Cloud Managed Services (CMS), helping onboard applications into managed support, ensuring environments meet operational and compliance requirements, and providing ongoing support for production workloads. You'll contribute to platform monitoring, incident management, automation, certificate and secrets management, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the developer experience and operational efficiency.

This is a permanent role with flexible working arrangements and opportunities to work on large-scale cloud platforms supporting one of Australia's leading banking technology environments.

What do I need?

• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and a solid understanding of cloud‑native technologies and container platforms.
• Experience building and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, along with automation and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of cloud security, monitoring and operational support, including incident management, observability and production environment troubleshooting.
• Experience working with Kubernetes, DevOps tooling and modern application delivery practices to support scalable and reliable platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, architecture and security teams, with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience supporting managed cloud services, including application onboarding, operational readiness, platform support and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with enterprise tooling such as ServiceNow, Jenkins, Bitbucket, CyberArk and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, Elastic or AppDynamics.
