Job summary

McMillan Shakespeare is seeking an experienced Cloud Data Specialist to own performance, data integrity, and scalability across enterprise systems. This hands-on role targets an expert Database Administrator or Performance Engineer who collaborates with architects, developers and data engineers to ensure secure and scalable data environments.

Deep expertise in database administration, data modelling, query optimisation and performance tuning is required for complex, high-volume enterprise

Qualifications

• 5+ years DBA experience in a corporate complex business.
• Deep expertise in query tuning, indexing, and execution plans.
• Strong understanding of database performance engineering.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced Database Administrator or Performance Engineer who thrives on solving complex performance challenges, optimising enterprise data platforms, and designing scalable, cloud-ready solutions. You'll work closely with architects, developers and data engineers to ensure our data environments are secure, resilient and built for the future.

If you have deep expertise in database administration, data modelling, query optimisation and performance tuning within complex, high-volume enterprise environments then this is the perfect role for you.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

Own performance, stability, and availability of enterprise databases

Lead query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning

Design and optimise data models (normalisation, schema design)

Embed best practices across DevOps and engineering teams

To be considered for this role you have:

5+ years DBA experience in a corporate complex business

Deep expertise in:

Query tuning, indexing, execution plans

Strong understanding of database performance engineering
