Job summary

TAL Australia in Sydney is seeking a Data Engineer to strengthen trusted data foundations, enabling smarter decisions and better customer experiences across the business.

You will join the Data Engineering team to build reliable pipelines, governance, and scalable cloud-based data assets using Azure, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.

Collaborate across teams to deliver practical data solutions that support TAL's purpose of protecting Australians when they need it most.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering, software engineering or analytics engineering within a complex environment.
• Build and support data pipelines, transformations and curated datasets for reporting, analytics or operational use.
• Cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar technologies.
• SQL and Python or Spark to deliver reliable data solutions.
• Knowledge of data quality, governance, privacy and security practices.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT/CS/SC or data engineering; certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Build reliable data pipelines that support reporting, analytics and AI-enabled outcomes.
• Develop reusable data assets to improve consistency and delivery speed.
• Modernise legacy data processes into secure, scalable cloud solutions.
• Embed governance, lineage and data risk controls.
