Job summary

TAL, a leading Australian life insurer, is seeking a Data Engineer to strengthen trusted data foundations for smarter decisions and better customer experiences. You will connect information across the organisation with reliable, scalable, and meaningful data solutions that support TAL’s digital services and decision-making.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering or analytics in a complex environment.
• Build and support data pipelines for reporting, analytics or operational use.
• Work confidently with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar.
• Use SQL and Python or Spark to deliver reliable, production-ready data solutions.

Job Description

At TAL, data helps us better understand and support the people we protect. As a Data Engineer, you’ll play an important role in strengthening the trusted data foundations that enable smarter decisions, better customer experiences and future-ready digital services. Working within our Data Engineering team, you’ll help connect information across the organisation in ways that are reliable, scalable and meaningful, supporting TAL’s broader ambition to use data responsibly to deliver better outcomes for customers, partners and our people. In this role you will:

• Build reliable data pipelines that enable trusted reporting, analytics, operational and AI-enabled outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bring experience in data engineering, software engineering or analytics engineering within a complex environment.
• Build and support data pipelines, transformations and curated datasets for reporting, analytics or operational use.
• Work confidently with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar technologies.
• Use SQL and relevant tools such as Python or Spark to deliver reliable, production-ready data solutions.
• Apply sound knowledge of data quality, governance, privacy, security and supportability practices.
• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, software engineering, data engineering or a related field; relevant certifications are desirable.
