Job summary

Kestrel Eight, Melbourne‑born specialist IT consultancy, seeks a Principal Consultant & Practice Lead for its Cloud & Automation practice. You’ll be the technical cornerstone, leading delivery on OpenShift, Ansible, and RHEL engagements within secure government environments, while mentoring a team of consultants.

Expect to shape client strategy, build trusted relationships, and drive growth through the profit‑share model. Canberra‑based on‑site work is expected with flexible delivery options.

Qualifications

• Security clearance: NV1 or NV2 active (non‑negotiable).
• Red Hat stack design/delivery experience in gov/enterprise.
• Delivery experience in Australian federal government context.
• Experience leading technical teams on complex engagements.
• Senior consultant in high‑impact environments; clear tech communication to execs.
• Ability to build trusted client relationships and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Hands‑on technical lead on client engagements across OpenShift, Ansible, and RHEL in secure gov environments.
• Plan and execute wave‑based migration and cost analysis for virtualization.
• Deliver containerisation and orchestration solutions across public/private/on‑prem environments.
• Architect secure, scalable government‑compliant solutions; produce runbooks and designs.
• Provide governance, QA, and mentoring; develop delivery assets and playbooks.
