Job summary

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) in Young, NSW, is seeking a Clinical Support Officer to assist with rostering, payroll data entry and recruitment activities, supporting nursing and midwifery teams.

You will coordinate travel, organise unit meetings, monitor registrations, and help with audits, stock control and reporting. A Certificate III in Health Administration is preferred, with strong communication and IT skills, plus a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

  • Holds, or is willing to undertake, a Certificate III in Health Administration.
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Current Class C driver's licence and willingness to travel for work.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with workforce matters including rostering, leave and payroll, and data entry for unit rosters into IT systems.
  • Assisting with recruitment activity, including approvals, sourcing agency staff and interview scheduling.
  • Supporting replacement of unplanned leave and adjusting skill mix as directed.
  • Producing reports on finance and quality indicators from data entry.
  • Assisting with quality, safety audits, accreditation and incident management and stock control.
  • Handling unit meetings: scheduling, documents and action items.
  • Coordinating travel and accommodation for unit staff as required and tracking registrations.

About the Opportunity

As the Clinical Support Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with workforce matters including rostering, leave and payroll, and data entry for unit rosters into relevant IT systems.
  • Assisting with recruitment activity, including creating Approval to Recruit / Temporary Contract requests, sourcing agency staff as directed, and ensuring interviews are arranged in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the replacement of unplanned leave as directed, seeking guidance from the manager on skill mix requirements.
  • Participating in data entry activities relating to patient care and assisting in the production of reports on finance and quality parameters/indicators.
  • Supporting the administrative aspects of quality and safety audits, accreditation and incident management, and ensuring the unit has adequate stock of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Undertaking administrative tasks related to unit meetings, including scheduling, preparing documents and progressing action items.
  • Monitoring nurse and midwife registration and enrolment, coordinating student clinical placements, and organising travel and accommodation for unit staff as required.
About You

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Holds, or is willing to undertake, a Certificate III in Health Administration or equivalent.
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills, including accurate spelling and the confidence to deal courteously with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure, high-volume work environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement and a person-centred approach.
  • Capacity to work under broad supervision and undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team.
  • A current Class C driver's licence and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes, which may involve driving long distances within MLHD.
