Job summary

Grampians Health in Ballarat is seeking a Clinical Support Nurse for the Perioperative Stream on a part-time basis (8 hours per week). The role supports the Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator and leads targeted perioperative educational programs, bridging theory and practice within the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment framework.

• Must hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum 3 years registered nurse experience.
• Have current perioperative clinical nursing experience.
• Hold a postgraduate qualification in perioperative specialty or be willing to work towards it.
• Hold or be willing to work towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or education qualification.
• Demonstrated experience supporting learners and staff in perioperative care.
• Training or modules in clinical supervision and learner support are highly regarded.

About the Role

Grampians Health is currently seeking a Clinical Support Nurse to facilitate the development of clinical practice in a dedicated educational program. Working closely with the relevant Perioperative Clinical Nurse Educator and Speciality Practice Program Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating, and delivering targeted perioperative educational programs. You will provide hands‑on clinical supervision and create valuable learning experiences that bridge theory and practice, guided by the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment (BPCLE) framework and relevant curriculum standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess students' clinical progress, competence and preparedness for advanced practice and qualification in the chosen speciality.
• Assist the Clinical Nurse Educator to ensure all activities are linked to National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards (NSQHS) and align with the Best Practice Clinical Learning Environment (BPCLE) framework.
• Present as a professional role model and clinical leader.
• Support learners to gain appropriate theoretical knowledge and clinical experience across a variety of care settings including working alongside learners in clinical settings, providing timely feedback, facilitating the achievement of learning objectives.

Skills & Experience

• Must hold current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum 3 years registered nurse experience
• Have current and substantial clinical nursing experience in the perioperative area
• Hold a postgraduate qualification in the specialty clinical area or be willing to work towards the same
• Hold or be willing to work towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or tertiary qualification in the field of education
• Demonstrated experience supporting learners and staff in the perioperative clinical area
• Attendance at programs or completion of online modules directly relating to clinical supervision and support of learners in the workplace would be highly regarded.

This position is paid in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 - 2028. The classification is Clinical Support Nurse (RN28) which is paid at $58.34 per hour.
