Job summary

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to deliver evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention services at the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital. The position is a temporary full-time role until December 2026 and offers diverse opportunities within a large health district.

• Full registration with Psychology Board of Australia with endorsement or eligibility.
• 2+ years full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
• Experience in psycho-oncology or health populations.
• Ability to design and implement short and medium term, individual and group psychological treatment protocols.
• Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
• Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary health team.
• Commitment to quality improvement and research.

The provision of high quality evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention services to patients/consumers of the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria

• Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with Endorsement in Clinical Psychology (or eligibility to progress to same), along with a minimum two-year full-time equivalent Master or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology.
• Demonstrated experience in the provision of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention and evaluation of clinical outcomes with psycho-oncology and/or other health populations.
• Capacity to design and implement short and medium term, individual and group psychological treatment protocols.
• Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and time management skills.
• Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff.
• Demonstrated experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a health setting.
• Demonstrated experience in and commitment to quality improvement and research.
