Queensland Health's Cairns Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse (Simulation Coordinator) to lead scenario-based nursing simulation and clinical skills training for healthcare professionals and students.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, design and evaluate educational programs, and provide clinical leadership to promote patient safety and high learning standards in Far North Queensland.

About us:

The Cairns Skills Centre, located within the Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Unit at Cairns Hospital, is a CHHHS-wide resource responsible for the delivery of simulation-based education and clinical skills training to healthcare professionals and students across Far North Queensland. The Centre supports improved patient outcomes through the provision of contemporary, hands‑on learning experiences that enhance clinical competence, communication, situational awareness, and teamwork. Supported by an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, educators, facilitators, and resuscitation specialists, the Centre manages advanced simulation and training facilities and provides support and governance to six satellite Pocket Centres across CHHHS.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…

• Maintain productive multi-disciplinary working relationships by practicing effective interpersonal communication skills, effectively dealing with challenging behaviours and the resolution of conflicts.
• Assist in the development, design, delivery and evaluation of scenario-based simulation education and clinical skills training.
• Practise collaboratively and provide clinical leadership and advice within the interdisciplinary health care team to promote high standards of simulation education, effective learning outcomes, including the safety, security and personal integrity of individuals and groups.
