Queensland Government's Gladstone Hospital Perioperative Unit is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide advanced perioperative care, coordinate theatre operations and support patient flow with autonomy and accountability.

You will liaise with surgeons and anaesthetists, manage lists and use ORMIS for patient data, while contributing to clinical leadership, education and research in a busy modern operating suite.

Qualifications

• Hold current NMBA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Postgraduate perioperative qualifications are well regarded.
• Advanced clinical knowledge in perioperative nursing including anaesthetic, scrub/scout and PACU.
• Apply evidence-based practice, audits and quality initiatives to improve clinical practice.
• Demonstrate expert assessment, care planning, coordination and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate theatre operations with the Nurse Unit Manager.
• Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate elective and emergency lists.
• Manage theatre scheduling and patient information using ORMIS.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentor staff.

About us:The Perioperative Unit at Gladstone Hospital is located in Block Seven, West Wing, and supports a broad range of surgical services across two operating rooms and a procedure room. The unit delivers elective and emergency surgery, Day Surgery, Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic and Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) services. With a focus on maintaining high standards of evidence-based patient care, the team supports patients throughout their perioperative journey.
