Job summary

Far West Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator to lead and coordinate education for nursing and midwifery staff in Broken Hill, working 38 hours per week with a temporary full-time contract until 4 December 2026.

The role offers a remuneration of $62.68-$64.71 per hour plus superannuation, with incentives under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. Applicants benefit from rural living and dedicated professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Current nursing/midwifery registration with AHPRA.
  • Current Certificate as a Workplace Trainer and Assessor (Cert IV) or willing to attain within 12 months.
  • Three years' experience as a Registered Nurse providing preceptorship and mentoring.
  • Credentialed as an Advanced Life Support Instructor, or willing to obtain within 12 months.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to competence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and computer skills.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW and travel across rural areas.

Job description

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

  • Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current Certificate as a Workplace Trainer and Assessor (currently Certificate IV) or willingness to work towards and attain certificate within 12 months of commencement of position.
  • Demonstrated three years' experience as a Registered Nurse providing preceptorship and mentoring to clinicians using adult learning principles and facilitation skills
  • Credentialed as an Advanced Life Support Instructor, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of commencement of position.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and preparedness to travel across rural and remote areas.
