Job summary

Far West NSW Local Health District is seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide senior clinical input, supervision, and leadership to the Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service in a rural NSW setting.

You will develop and evaluate care management plans for patients with complex needs, offer expert consultancy, support direct patient care, and drive local research findings into clinical practice, with opportunities for professional development and eligibility under NSW Health

Responsibilities

• Provide senior clinical input, supervision, and leadership to the Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service.
• Develop, facilitate implementation and evaluate care management plans for patients with complex health needs.
• Provide expert person-centred consultancy practice, direct patient care, and educate consumers and carers on complex clinical issues.
• Initiate and utilise findings of research in clinical service provision through local research and dissemination.
• Participate in formal planning processes for the clinical service, identifying future needs and evaluating delivery of specialist consultant service.

Clinical Nurse Consultant MHDA Community

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What you'll be doing

• Provide senior clinical input, support, and supervision to the Community Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service.

• Provide expert person-centred consultancy practice, participating in direct patient care provision and provide education on complex clinical issues to consumers and carers.
• Initiate and utilise findings of research in the provision of clinical services through initiation, conducting and dissemination of findings of locally based research in specialty.
• Participate in formal processes for the strategic and operational planning for the clinical service through identification of future needs and planning organisation, delivery and evaluation of specialist consultant service.
