Job summary

Queensland Health in Mount Isa invites applications for Clinical Midwife - Caseload, MGP. You will deliver autonomous, evidence-based care across pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, mentoring graduates within the MGP model.

You will lead with clinical expertise, manage a full caseload, and contribute to a close-knit regional community in North West Queensland.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in midwifery and registration as a midwife.
• Postgraduate study in a relevant area is desirable.
• C Class motor vehicle licence may be required.
• Pre-employment screening including criminal history checks.
• Vaccination or immunity evidence may be required.

About the role

As a Clinical Midwife - Caseload, Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) you'll provide autonomous, evidence-based and woman-centred care across pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. Working in partnership with women, families and a multidisciplinary team, you'll bring advanced clinical expertise and leadership to the position. You'll also play an important role in mentoring graduate and early career midwives as they develop their skills within the MGP model.

• Provide continuity of care across the maternity journey, managing an all-risk caseload and building trusted relationships with women and their families.
• Lead with clinical expertise, using advanced assessment, critical thinking, planning and problem-solving skills to support women with normal and complex care needs.

Working with us

• For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085; and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).
• In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
• Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
• Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
• Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.
• We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements

• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences as a Registered Midwife.
• A post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study is highly desirable.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
• A period of probation may apply.
