Job summary

Queensland Health is offering an 18‑month opportunity for a Registered Nurse to develop a midwifery career within a contemporary maternity service. You will rotate across antenatal, birthing, postnatal and neonatal units while studying toward your Graduate Certificate in Midwifery.

You will be supported by an experienced team dedicated to clinical excellence, professional development, and positive outcomes for women, babies and families in the North West region.

Qualifications

• Mandatory: relevant tertiary degree and appropriate registration/licences.
• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
• Pre-employment screening including Criminal History checks.
• VPD risk role; vaccination/immunity may be required.
• Probation period may apply.

Gain hands-on experience across all facets of maternity care while completing your Graduate Certificate in Midwifery. Work alongside an experienced and supportive team, rotate through the Birthing Unit, Antenatal and Postnatal services, and Special Care Nursery, and build the skills needed to become a Registered Midwife.

About the role

This is an exciting 18-month opportunity for a Registered Nurse to develop their midwifery career within a supportive and contemporary maternity service.

Gain exposure to the full scope of maternity care through structured rotations across antenatal, birthing, postnatal and neonatal services while studying toward your Graduate Certificate in Midwifery.

You'll be supported by an experienced team committed to clinical excellence, professional development, and positive outcomes for women, babies, and families across the North West region.

Working with us

• For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085; and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).


• In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.


• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.

Tax savings through

Requirements

• Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.


• C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.


• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.


• This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.


• A period of probation may apply.
