Job summary

West Gippsland Healthcare Group is seeking a Clinical Maternity Educator to provide educational leadership and support to maternity staff and students in Gippsland. The CME will identify, develop and deliver learning opportunities that enhance patient care and safety across the pregnancy and birth continuum.

The role reports to the Learning and Development Manager and involves collaboration with the Maternity Unit Manager to build workforce capability and promote evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Midwifery or equivalent.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116), or willingness to obtain within timeframe.
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience across pregnancy and birth continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational leadership and guidance to maternity staff and students.
  • Identify, develop and deliver learning opportunities to support excellence in maternity care.
  • Collaborate with Maternity Unit Manager and Learning & Development team to build workforce capability.
  • Promote evidence-based clinical practice and competency programs.
  • Mentor staff and coordinate student placements in the maternity unit.

Clinical Maternity Educator

Permanent part-time, up to 48 hours per fortnight

Nurses & Midwives Enterprise Agreement, Educator (Major) - RN35 - $64.82895 p/h

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning and Development Unit at West Gippsland Healthcare Group in the role of Clinical Maternity Educator.

Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, the Clinical Maternity Educator (CME) provides educational leadership and guidance to maternity staff and students through the identification, development and delivery of learning opportunities that support excellence in maternity care. Working closely with the Maternity Unit Manager and the Learning and Development team, the CME plays a key role in building workforce capability, supporting student placements, facilitating competency programs and promoting evidence-based clinical practice.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced and enthusiastic midwives who are passionate about education, workforce development and supporting high-quality woman-centred care. The successful applicant will work collaboratively across the organisation to deliver innovative learning programs and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.

This rewarding role would suit a highly motivated midwife with extensive clinical experience across the pregnancy and birth continuum who enjoys mentoring others, facilitating learning and driving positive outcomes for staff, students and women receiving maternity care.

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Extensive post-registration clinical experience in Midwifery (minimum 5 years).
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Midwifery or equivalent.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116), relevant tertiary education qualification, or willingness to work towards obtaining this qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience across the pregnancy and birth continuum.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • High-level clinical skills across the continuum of pregnancy and birth.
  • Knowledge of contemporary midwifery practice and issues.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and deliver learning opportunities for maternity staff and students

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
