Job summary

St Vincent's Health Australia in Melbourne invites applications for a part-time Clinical Coach - Maternity at SVPHM Fitzroy campus. The role is permanent part-time (0.4 FTE) within the maternity education team, focused on mentoring nurses across antenatal to postnatal units.

You will lead competency assessments, design in-service sessions, support diverse learners, and promote professionalism in a collaborative, values-based environment.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Proven experience mentoring diverse nursing learners (enrolled & registered).
• Experience supporting learners across maternity units.
• Post-graduate qualification in Maternity or Education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support staff and learners across all maternity areas (antenatal, birth suite, postnatal, SCN).
• Deliver specialised clinical education that enhances practice.
• Lead mandatory competency assessments and learning gaps identification.
• Design and facilitate targeted in-service education sessions (twilight seminars and short courses).

Are you passionate about elevating clinical practice? Do you thrive on mentoring the next generation of nurses? We are seeking a part-time Clinical Coach - Maternity to join our team at St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne.

ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

This role is being offered on a permanent part-time (0.4 FTE) basis and is located at our Fitzroy campus. It's your chance to join our maternity education team and continue driving education and training innovation.

• Support our staff and diverse learners - from postgraduate students to enrolled and registered nurse graduates
• Support across all areas of Maternity - Antenatal/CTG, Birth Suite, Post-natal unit, Special Care Nursery.
• Deliver specialised clinical education that transforms practice
• Champion professionalism and foster collaborative teamwork
• Lead mandatory competency assessments
• Identify learning gaps and create innovative solutions
• Design and facilitate targeted in-service education sessions, including twilight seminars and short courses

ABOUT SVPHM Maternity Services

The Maternity Unit at SVPHM Fitzroy has been a leading service for over 80 years and supports the care and birth of over 2000 babies a year. The maternity unit includes 9 new birthing suites, with 3 containing baths for water immersion, the care of medium to high-risk women/pregnancies, the care of multiple pregnancy all working under a private model of care. The antenatal/postnatal unit contains 31 single rooms, 17 being suites and supports care at the nearby Park Hyatt Hotel. The Special Care Nursery contains 12 pods and is able to care for newborns from 32 weeks gestation.

ABOUT YOU

• Ability to work beside staff/Graduates in SCN (32weeks/CPAP competent) and birth suite
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Proven experience supporting diverse nursing learners (enrolled & registered)
• Experience supporting a variety of learners across all maternity units
• Passion for education and mentoring excellence
• Innovation mindset and collaborative spirit
• Desirable - Post-graduate qualification in Maternity / Education and/or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or actively pursuing)
