Job description

Proud of your craft, or ready to build one? We want to hear from you.

Bay Tree Services has been looking after trees across South East Melbourne, Bayside and the Mornington Peninsula for more than 20 years. Our high-end residential, commercial and municipal clients expect the best. We deliver that by putting our people first: a safety-first crew, premium well-maintained equipment, and a business that invests in your growth.

We have positions to fill, and we’re open on experience level. If you’re a skilled climber ready to lead, or a driven newcomer ready to learn, we’ll shape the role around the right person.

The roles

Depending on your experience, you’ll either:

  • Lead from the front. Run crews, coach juniors, take on advanced rigging and canopy work, and set the standard for site presentation and safety.

  • Learn from the best. Get hands‑on mentoring from senior arborists, rotate through ground operations to build a broad skill set, and work your way toward climbing.

Either way, you’ll be delivering premium work you can put your name to.

You are
  • Enthusiastic, reliable and self‑motivated

  • Particular, with a real eye for detail and finish

  • Physically fit and safety‑minded

  • Calm and professional with clients and teammates

  • Keen to build a long‑term career in arboriculture

What you bring

Everyone: a strong work ethic, the right attitude, and pride in doing things properly.

Experienced climbers, we’d also love to see:

  • 2+ years of regular climbing, including advanced rigging work

  • Minimum MR truck licence

  • Current relevant competencies (e.g. Cert III; ESI/EWP a bonus)

  • Leadership experience on site

Why you’ll want to work here
  • A real career path: Structured mentoring, with room to grow into leadership roles

  • Premium gear, supplied: All PPE and equipment provided and meticulously maintained

  • Paid training days: Skill progression plans and supportive coaching at every level

  • Work you can be proud of: Premium clients and premium outcomes. Presentation, communication and respect matter here.

  • People first: We work with you on your individual needs while keeping a high‑performing team

  • An established, respected business: Over 20 years in the industry.

About the pay

The rate per hour depending on skills and experience, so trainees and experienced climbers alike are paid fairly for what they bring. The top of the band is for highly skilled climbers who make an immediate impact. That means leading crews on complex jobs and helping us win and keep clients through existing relationships, referrals or converting quotes.

What we value

Level‑headed decisions. Respect for everyone on and off site. A strong work ethic. A drive to lift the whole team.

We’re reviewing applications as they arrive and interviewing straight away.

Join a fantastic crew, learn fast, and build a career you’ll be proud of.
