Phytech is seeking an Irrigation Automation Technician based in Mildura to support growers in the Sunraysia region with Phytech irrigation solutions and field hardware.

The role involves daily travel, some face-to-face client interactions, and remote support. A driver’s license and willingness to work outdoors are essential. Training will be provided to learn Phytech systems and enable autonomous service.

Job description

Phytech have grown to become the largest IoT Agtech service provider in Australia. The Phytech service centers around a range of proprietary plant and environmental sensors, along with cloud based algorithms, that enable growers to view the real time irrigation needs of their crops. Data is collected and analyzed automatically, then displayed to the grower using a simple smartphone and web interface. This leads to improved water use efficiency, optimized yields and higher quality produce.

Phytech has also expanded into the irrigation automation sector, providing growers with the ability to remotely program their irrigation system. The business model is “as-a-service” for both hardware and software, whereby the client pays a seasonal subscription fee rather than purchasing the specialized hardware and software themselves. Target irrigated crops include almonds, citrus, avocado, pistachio, stonefruit & grapes. Due to business growth a new opportunity exists for a Sunraysia-based Irrigation Automation Technician to join the team.

Job Requirements -Irrigation Automation Technician - Sunraysia

Based in the greater Mildura area.

Primarily servicing the Sunraysia region from Swan Hill to Lake Cullulleraine, with the potential responsibility to remotely support clients in other regions within Australia.

Reporting to the relevant Territory Manager.

The objective of this Client Success Manager role is to provide agronomic support and training to existing clients. Some of this will be face-to-face with the orchard/irrigation manager at their site, and some will be by phone or Zoom meeting. You must be passionate about wanting to help the client succeed in achieving better outcomes.

Provide supervision and guidance to the field technician(s) in the region.

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to learn new concepts, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills, delivered in a professional manner. The company will provide you with the necessary training and support so you can learn how the Phytech solution works.

You must be willing and able to work outside in an orchard environment from time to time. There is no heavy lifting but you will be exposed to a wide range of physical movements (bending, kneeling, reaching, etc).

Work autonomously from home or the Mildura office without direct supervision.

Regular daily travel throughout the Sunraysia region, and infrequent travel to other regions that may require an occasional night or two away from home. You must maintain a valid Australian driver's license.

An understanding of horticultural irrigation operation, maintenance or design will be highly regarded.

Experience working with, or for, horticultural organizations will be highly regarded.

A formal qualification in agriculture will be highly regarded.

A salary commensurate with experience, plus a company vehicle, phone, computer and superannuation is on offer.

You must have the legal right to live and work in Australia to be considered for the role.
