Client Executive - Victoria, Water Infrastructure

WSP

Job Description
Client Executive – Water | Victoria

Help shape the next chapter of our Water business in Victoria

This is an opportunity for a well-connected, commercially minded Water professional to play a pivotal role in how WSP engages with the Victorian market.

As our Client Executive - Victoria, Water, you’ll be at the forefront of our growth strategy in Victoria, strengthening relationships with major Water clients, identifying emerging opportunities and leading the pursuit of some of the sector’s most significant projects.

This isn’t a traditional people leadership role. Your influence will come through clients, market intelligence, strategy and work winning. You’ll bring together the right technical, project and commercial expertise from across WSP to position our business for success. Reporting to the Director, Clients & Growth – Water, you’ll work closely with our Water leadership, Key Account Managers, technical leaders and specialists across the broader WSP business.

What you’ll do

At the heart of this position is understanding where the Victorian Water market is heading, what matters to our clients and how WSP can respond. You’ll:

  • Be an integral part of building and strengthening our senior relationships across Victoria’s Water sector, becoming a trusted partner to our clients.
  • Identify and shape strategic opportunities well ahead of procurement and tender.
  • Lead major Water pursuits across Victoria, from early positioning and capture planning through to tender, presentations and client engagement.
  • Develop pursuit strategies that bring together client drivers, competitive positioning, win themes, commercial considerations and teaming strategies.
  • Work with our technical, project, bid and operational teams to develop compelling solutions to complex client challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the services we provide to existing clients by connecting them with capability from across WSP.
  • Build relationships with new clients, contractors, JV and Alliance partners and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Bring market intelligence into the business, including client investment priorities, competitors, procurement strategies, delivery models and emerging opportunities.
  • Help maintain a strong and strategically focused Victorian Water pipeline.
  • Support key go/no-go and pursuit decisions, ensuring we invest our time and resources in the right opportunities.
  • Represent WSP in the Victorian Water market through senior client engagement, industry relationships and networking.
  • Collaborate across disciplines and geographies to bring the best of WSP to our clients.
About you

You’ll already understand how complex infrastructure opportunities develop, often long before an RFP reaches the market. You’re likely to have built your career within Water, engineering consulting, infrastructure, client management, project leadership or business development, and you know how to translate relationships and market insight into genuine opportunities.

We’re looking for someone with:
  • Significant experience within the Water and/or major infrastructure sector, typically 10+ years.
  • Strong knowledge of the Victorian Water market, its clients, industry participants and emerging infrastructure opportunities.
  • A strong network within the Victorian Water sector, or demonstrated experience building senior industry relationships.
  • Experience developing trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Proven capability identifying, shaping and converting strategic opportunities.
  • Experience leading or playing a senior role in major pursuits, bids and capture planning within technically complex environments.
  • Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of different procurement, contracting and delivery models.
  • An understanding of Alliance, JV, contractor and other teaming models within major infrastructure.
  • The ability to connect technical capability with client and commercial drivers to create differentiated solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to influence and mobilise multidisciplinary teams without relying on direct reporting lines.

A relevant degree is desirable, although we’ll also consider candidates with equivalent senior industry experience.

What will make you successful

You’ll be someone who is genuinely energised by the market and by building relationships.

You’ll be comfortable sitting across the table from senior Water industry leaders discussing their challenges, but equally comfortable working behind the scenes with technical teams to turn those conversations into a compelling pursuit strategy.

You’ll know when to pursue an opportunity, when to challenge our approach and when to bring other expertise into the conversation.

Most importantly, you’ll bring a client-first, commercially astute and collaborative mindset, with the credibility to influence both externally and across WSP.

What’s on offer

Joining WSP means having the opportunity to influence the future of our Victorian Water business while being supported by the scale, expertise and multidisciplinary capability of a global organisation.

You’ll benefit from:
  • A senior, market-facing role with genuine influence over major Victorian Water pursuits and client strategy
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Career development, learning and global opportunities
  • Purchased leave options for eligible employees
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan with employer matching for eligible employees
  • Paid parental leave and wellbeing support
  • Employee Assistance Program and Work | Life Links
  • Corporate health, fitness, travel, technology and novated leasing benefits
Why this role?

This is a chance to take on a highly visible position with the ability to make a tangible impact on WSP’s growth across the Victorian Water market.

Rather than managing a large team, your focus will be where you can have the greatest impact: in the market, with our clients and around our most strategically important pursuits.

You’ll have access to multidisciplinary capability from across WSP and the opportunity to connect our Water clients with expertise spanning some of the most complex infrastructure and engineering challenges in the market.

If you know the Victorian Water sector, enjoy bringing people and ideas together, and thrive on turning relationships into successful projects, we’d love to hear from you.
