Job summary

St Mary's Aged Care is seeking a reliable Cleaner / Project Cleaner to join our team on the Sunshine Coast. This role combines general cleaning with project cleaning across the facility and surrounds, with paid buddy shifts and full training provided.

References are essential and a National Police Certificate may be required. The successful candidate will clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas, and perform windows, curtains, debris removal and carpet cleaning tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, preferably in aged care, healthcare or commercial cleaning.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn operating cleaning equipment safely.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a National Police Certificate.
• Physically capable of demanding cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices and hallways.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust.
• Disinfect toilets and bathrooms and respond to spills.
• Perform internal and external window cleaning and curtain washing.
• Pressure wash outdoor areas and surfaces.
• Operate carpet cleaning machines and other cleaning equipment.
• Assist with additional cleaning projects and ad hoc duties as required.

Cleaner / Project Cleaner

St Mary's Aged Care is seeking a reliable, hardworking and motivated Cleaner / Project Cleaner to join our excellent team.

We are looking for positive individuals who are willing to learn new skills and enjoy a varied, hands-on role. Full training will be provided in our supportive team environment, including paid buddy shifts. References are essential.

Current Shifts Available

• Thursday and Friday: 6:30 am - 2:30 pm
• Additional relief shifts as required

Key Responsibilities

This position combines general cleaning duties within our aged care facility with project cleaning tasks across the facility and surrounding areas.

General Cleaning

• Cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, offices and hallways.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting.
• Thorough cleaning and disinfecting of toilets and bathrooms.
• Responding to spills, accidents and other cleaning requirements.
• Following infection control procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Project Cleaning

• Cleaning internal and external windows.
• Taking down curtains for cleaning and rehanging them.
• Pressure washing outdoor areas and surfaces.
• Leaf blowing and maintaining clean outdoor areas.
• Operating a duplex machine for carpet cleaning.
• Undertaking periodic deep cleaning and other specialised cleaning tasks.
• Assisting with additional cleaning projects and ad hoc duties as required.

What We Are Looking For

• A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Previous cleaning experience, preferably in aged care, healthcare or commercial cleaning.
• Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high cleaning standards.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good time management, organisation and communication skills.
• A willingness to learn how to operate cleaning equipment safely, including carpet cleaning machines and pressure washers.
• The ability to undertake physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending and working both indoors and outdoors.
• An understanding of workplace health and safety, hygiene and infection control, or a willingness to learn.
• A respectful and considerate approach when working in an aged care environment.

A current National Police Certificate is required, or applicants must be willing to obtain one.

Full training will be provided, so a willingness to learn and a reliable approach to work are essential.
