Job summary

Cairns Cleaning Contractors is seeking a caring Domestic Cleaner to support elderly clients in their homes in Cairns. You will provide thorough cleaning, linen changes, and organize living spaces with a patient, respectful approach.

Ideal candidates have warmth, reliability, and the ability to work unsupervised. A police background check and Blue Card are required, with ongoing training and a flexible schedule offered.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience is preferred.

• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy, may work unsupervised in client homes.
• Ability to pass a police/background check.
• A valid Blue Card is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general household cleaning: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom and kitchen cleaning.
• Change and launder bed linens as needed.
• Tidy and organize living spaces.
• Take out rubbish and recycling.
• Report concerns about a client’s wellbeing or safety to your supervisor.
• Communicate respectfully with elderly clients, including those with mobility or memory challenges.
• Follow individual client preferences and care plans and maintain a hygienic environment.

We're looking for a caring, reliable Domestic Cleaner to join our team supporting elderly clients in their homes. This isn't just cleaning — it's about helping older members of our community live comfortably, safely, and with dignity in their own homes. You'll bring a friendly, patient presence along with your cleaning skills, building trusted relationships with clients over time.

What You’ll Do

Perform general household cleaning: dusting, vacuuming, mopping, bathroom and kitchen cleaning

Change and launder bed linens as needed

Tidy and organize living spaces

Take out rubbish and recycling

Report any concerns about a client’s wellbeing, home safety, or changes in condition to your supervisor

Communicate respectfully and patiently with elderly clients, some of whom may have mobility, hearing, or memory challenges

Follow individual client preferences and care plans

Maintain a safe, hygienic environment at all times

What We’re Looking For

Previous cleaning experience preferred (not essential — training provided)

A genuine warmth and patience when working with older people

Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy — you may be working unsupervised in a client’s home

Ability to pass a police/background check

A valid Blue Card

Physically able to perform cleaning duties, including light bending, lifting, and standing
