Job summary

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience supervising civil construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, underground services, subdivisions, earthworks or roadworks.
• Able to interpret plans, specifications and construction schedules.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil construction activities, crews and subcontractors.
• Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and site resources.
• Ensure works meet plans, specifications and project schedules.
• Read construction drawings, levels and technical documentation.
• Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections.
• Monitor productivity, quality, costs and project progress.
• Maintain accurate site diaries, timesheets and project records.
• Coordinate deliveries, equipment and subcontractor activities.
• Ensure quality inspections and documentation are completed.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental and company procedures.
• Report hazards, incidents, delays and variations to management.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients and suppliers.
• Provide guidance, training and support to site personnel.

About the Role

Due to continued growth and ongoing project commitments, we are seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to join our Rockhampton team.

This hands-on role is responsible for coordinating crews, plant, subcontractors and daily site activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader who communicates effectively, solves problems and takes ownership of site performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily civil construction activities, crews and subcontractors.
• Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials and site resources.
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with plans, specifications and project schedules.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, levels and technical documentation.
• Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site inspections.
• Monitor productivity, quality, costs and project progress.
• Identify and resolve site issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate site diaries, timesheets, dockets and project records.
• Coordinate deliveries, equipment and subcontractor activities.
• Ensure quality inspections and documentation are completed.
• Maintain compliance with safety, environmental and company procedures.
• Report hazards, incidents, delays and variations to management.
• Liaise professionally with project managers, engineers, clients and suppliers.
• Provide guidance, training and support to site personnel.
• Promote a positive, productive and respectful team environment.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated experience supervising civil construction projects.
• Strong experience in drainage, underground services, subdivisions, earthworks or roadworks.
• Proven ability to lead crews and coordinate site operations.
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications and construction schedules.
• Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Competent computer and record-keeping skills.

Essential Requirements

• Current Australian driver’s licence.
• Construction Industry White Card.
• Relevant civil construction experience.
• Ability to pass required pre-employment and site-specific checks.

Desirable Requirements

• Certificates in Civil Construction or similar qualification.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Relevant plant tickets and licences.
• Experience working on major civil infrastructure projects.
