Job summary

Emerald Design and Construction P/L, based in Melbourne, seeks a Civil & Structural Engineer to lead both structural and civil design and computations, ensuring projects meet client requirements while adhering to AS/NZS standards.

You will report to the Director and collaborate with clients and the project team to deliver high-quality outcomes, upholding IBMS, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 requirements throughout all stages of design and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Minimum 10 years general experience and at least 3 years Australian experience in engineering roles.
• Proficiency in modern engineering design software and computational tools.
• Strong analytical skills for project assessments and complex problems.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and AS/NZS compliance.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to quality, safety, and sustainable engineering (WHS).

The Role

Reporting directly to the Director, you will lead the engineering process to deliver high-quality structural and civil engineering designs and computations. This is a pivotal role where you will ensure all projects meet client requirements while adhering strictly to AS/NZ standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed computations and designs for a variety of structural and civil engineering projects.

• Conduct thorough analyses of project requirements to guarantee compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Collaborate seamlessly with the customer’s project management team to ensure timely project delivery.

• Engage closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide tailored engineering solutions.

• Represent the engineering team confidently in meetings and presentations to stakeholders.

• Ensure all engineering work complies with our Integrated Business Management System (IBMS), including ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 standards.

• Take ownership of project safety by identifying risks via the risk matrix, participating in pre-start site meetings, and completing Workplace Safety Checklists prior to site activities.

• Ensure all identified risks are addressed and mitigated before issuing drawings for review.

• Participate in internal and external audits by providing technical documentation and demonstrating process compliance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) that is recognised by Engineers Australia.

• A minimum of 10 years general experience and minimum 3 years of demostrated australian experience in engineering roles, featuring a strong background in both structural and civil engineering design.

• Proficiency in modern engineering design software and computational tools.

• Strong analytical skills tailored for project assessments and complex problem-solving.

• A deep comprehension of engineering principles, codes, and standards.

• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal team members.

• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines.
