Job summary

Fyfe Pty is expanding its civil and structural capability in Brisbane, seeking an early-career engineer to take ownership of civil and structural designs from concept through to construction.

You'll work on residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, applying your hands-on design experience with 12d Model and related tools, and collaborating with engineers, designers and drafters across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in Civil or Structural engineering
• 2–4 years post-graduate civil/structural experience
• Hands-on use of 12d Model in civil design
• Experience with Australian Standards and codes
• Ability to communicate and manage multiple priorities

Responsibilities

• Produce civil and structural designs, calculations and documentation
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and drafters to produce accurate, constructible drawings
• Manage assigned project components to time, budget and quality
• Liaise with clients, councils and contractors and participate in design meetings and site inspections

The Opportunity

Fyfe is growing its civil and structural capability in Brisbane, creating an opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants to do more than model someone else's design.

Reporting to the Civil Design Manager or Team Leader, you'll work across multiple projects, producing civil and structural designs, calculations and documentation. You'll have the opportunity to build genuine design ownership, apply your engineering judgement and see your work progress from concept through to construction.

This role will suit someone with hands-on 12d experience who has been actively involved in design, not solely modelling or drafting. You'll contribute across civil and structural disciplines on residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects, with a strong preference for experience in mining or other non-road environments.

The Impact You'll Have

• Deliver civil designs covering stormwater, drainage, earthworks, site services and supporting infrastructure.
• Produce structural designs for footing systems, slabs, retaining walls, and steel and concrete structures.
• Apply your design thinking in 12d Model, taking an active role in developing solutions rather than simply producing models.
• Coordinate with engineers, designers and drafters to create accurate, well-documented and constructible drawings.
• Manage assigned project components to agreed time, budget and quality requirements.
• Liaise with clients, councils and contractors, and participate in design meetings and site inspections.
• Strengthen team capability by sharing knowledge and supporting graduate engineers as your experience develops.

What You'll Bring

You'll be a technically capable engineer who is ready to take greater ownership of design and broaden your experience across diverse project environments.

• A Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Structural or a related engineering discipline
• Approximately 2–4 years of post-graduate civil and/or structural engineering experience
• Hands-on experience using 12d Model, supported by practical involvement in civil design
• Demonstrated experience developing engineering solutions, calculations and documentation, rather than modelling alone
• Experience across projects outside a predominantly road-based environment
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, engineering codes and authority requirements
• Clear communication skills and the ability to manage your workload across multiple project priorities

Experience in mining, resources, industrial facilities or associated infrastructure would be highly regarded. Experience with software such as SPACE GASS, Microstran or AutoCAD, and progress towards Chartered Professional Engineer status, would also be valuable.
