Civil Services Group in Queensland invites applications for Civil Roads Supervisors and Inspectors to support the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program. Successful candidates will pre-qualify with TMR under CSG and work on DTMR road projects, with guidance provided.

Flexible for those already pre-qualified with other bodies to widen options. Responsibilities include inspecting asphalt works to DTMR standards, preparing reports, and ensuring documentation is complete.

Job description

We are involved in Civil Roadworks Projects for the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program, which is being highly publicised at the moment.

There will be more opportunities coming up between Gin Gin & Rockhampton and we are seeking experienced Civil Roads Supervisors & Inspectors - interested in becoming Pre-Qualified with TMR under CSG - to allow them to work on the projects. It's free & we provide guidance along the way. (This is also open to people who are already Pre-Qualified under other companies & wish to widen their options for opportunities).

The purpose of these roles are to inspect the construction of Asphalt roadworks to Transport and Main Roads' (DTMR) quality specifications & standards.

Responsibilities

• Use comprehensive knowledge of TMR policies, standards and specifications and be able to read, understand and interpret technical documents & standards;
• Prepare written documents including daily diary, submissions/reports & test results;
• Communicate with the Contractor and/or Contract Administrators, Senior Engineers or Principals Representatives and keep them informed of progress and quality of works; and
• Provide effective administration, surveillance and recording of documentation generated during the construction including photos;

Mandatory Experience

The person applying for this role must have a minimum of 5 to 10 years' extensive practical experience as a labourer, foreman &/or Supervisor and at least 1 to 2 years as a Civil Roads Inspector / Surveillance Officer on Civil Roads Infrastructure Construction Projects working either directly or indirectly for or with the Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads on DTMR Projects & be well versed and experienced with their policies, procedures & standards, Or; alternatively, any Australian Road Authority, directly or indirectly.

• Computer skills in Microsoft Windows operating system, MS Word, MS Excel, file management and email.
• Using a phone or tablet to record photographic evidence of site based work preparation, undertaken or finalised.
• Demonstrable Computer or tablet based diarising or reporting software skills.

Must have a driver's licence and have access to own transport to/from home to site & mobile phone. Own laptop will be an advantage.

Preference will be given to someone already living in QLD &/or willing to relocate to a regional coastal town, however we will consider DIDO & FIFO.

The sites can be located anywhere between Gin Gin & Rockhampton.

The projects typically are 1 - 2 year duration's with the possibility of extensions or transition onto other TMR / Council projects.

The proposed hours are normally 40 per week & usually dayshift, but can sometimes involve night or weekend shifts to conduct the works, but these will be discussed & agreed prior to each assignment. (If shifts are required, they are usually cycled alternately to provide relief).
