Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto’s One Gladstone Self-Perform team, supporting annual wall raise programs across QAL and Yarwun. You will play a key role in the safe planning and delivery of sustaining capital civil and earthworks projects while working closely with project, construction and operational teams.

The role requires a delivery-focused civil engineer with hands-on construction experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and eligibility

• Delivery-focused Civil Project Engineer with hands-on civil construction and earthworks experience.
• 8+ years' experience delivering civil earthworks and infrastructure projects in mining, resources, heavy industry or major infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and execution of annual wall raise programs.
• Manage civil work packages through the full project lifecycle.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and specialist resources.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, forecasts and construction performance.
• Provide field engineering support and resolve technical delivery challenges.
• Manage project risks, design changes, technical queries and change control.
• Support procurement, contract administration, reporting and capital governance requirements.
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering and Construction teams to achieve safe and successful project outcomes.

Chandler Macleod is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto’s One Gladstone Self-Perform team, supporting annual wall raise programs across QAL and Yarwun. You will play a key role in the safe planning and delivery of sustaining capital civil and earthworks projects while working closely with project, construction and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning and execution of annual wall raise programs.
• Manage civil work packages through the full project lifecycle.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and specialist resources.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, forecasts and construction performance.
• Provide field engineering support and resolve technical delivery challenges.
• Manage project risks, design changes, technical queries and change control.
• Support procurement, contract administration, reporting and capital governance requirements.
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering and Construction teams to achieve safe and successful project outcomes.

About You

• Delivery-focused Civil Project Engineer with hands-on civil construction and earthworks experience; this is not a structural design-focused role.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with eligibility for professional engineering registration.
• 8+ years' experience delivering civil earthworks and infrastructure projects within mining, resources, heavy industry or major infrastructure environments.
• Strong project controls, field engineering, stakeholder engagement and EPC coordination capability.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and successful project delivery.
• Current residence in the Gladstone region is essential. FIFO arrangements and relocation assistance are not available for this role.
• Current Australian driver's licence and ability to pass pre-employment medical testing. SAP, Microsoft Project or self-perform delivery experience is highly regarded.
