Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking multiple motivated Multi Skilled Labourers to join our Works team. This hands‑on role supports the construction, maintenance and improvement of essential infrastructure assets across the Shire, helping keep communities connected and thriving.

You’ll undertake a diverse range of labouring duties across roads, bridges, stormwater, water and sewer infrastructure, parks and public spaces, in a 38‑hour, full‑time framework with on‑call requirements and opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience undertaking general labouring duties in a construction, maintenance or civil works environment.
• Experience operating and maintaining small plant and equipment such as whipper snippers, trench rollers and vibraplates.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety and delivering quality customer service.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Current Drivers Licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Undertake general labouring duties across a variety of civil infrastructure projects.
• Assist with road construction and maintenance, traffic control, line marking and signage works.
• Support bridge, stormwater, water and sewer construction and maintenance activities.
• Operate and maintain small plant and light vehicles within licence and competency requirements.
• Contribute to parks, gardens, concrete, footpath and paving works.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, leading hands and team members to deliver quality outcomes safely and efficiently.
• Participate in a rostered on‑call system and respond to emergency work requirements when required.
