Job summary

Byron Shire Council is seeking a skilled Multi Skilled Operator to join the Works team, contributing to construction, maintenance and improvements across shire infrastructure. You will operate a range of plant and trucks while supporting crews to deliver quality outcomes for the community.

This full‑time role covers diverse projects including roads, bridges, stormwater, water and sewer infrastructure, parks and public facilities, in a region known for its lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining major plant and/or trucks.
• Ability to supervise staff and work in a team.
• Experience performing civil construction and labouring tasks.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality service.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain plant, trucks and equipment.
• Undertake construction, maintenance and labouring tasks.
• Assist with planning and delivery of daily works programs.
• Supervise staff or coordinate traffic control on minor works as required.
• Ensure equipment is safely operated and maintained.
• Provide high-level customer service when engaging with residents, contractors and stakeholders.
• Participate in on-call roster and emergency works as required.
