Job summary

Minecon Recruitment Pty is partnering with an established civil contractor in Brisbane, QLD, to recruit two Civil Estimators at Intermediate and Senior levels. The roles focus on pricing bulk earthworks, basement excavation, piling, retention systems and FRP within complex civil packages.

You will join a growing precontracts team, review drawings and tender docs, prepare detailed take-offs and pricing, assess labour and materials, and use CostX to develop estimates and inform strategy.

Qualifications

• Direct civil contractor estimating experience across basement/bulk excavation, retaining systems, FRP and related civil works.
• Sound understanding of construction sequencing, productivity, rates, drawings and specifications.
• Experience with CostX estimating software is highly regarded.
• Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and communication skills.
• Intermediate: able to prepare estimates with support and looking to build broader tender ownership.
• Senior: demonstrated ability to lead complex tenders independently and guide pricing strategy.

Responsibilities

Minecon Recruitment is partnering with an established civil contractor to recruit two Civil Estimators at Intermediate and Senior level. With a growing precontracts team and a strong pipeline of technically challenging projects, these opportunities will suit estimators with direct experience pricing bulk earthworks, basement excavation, piling, retention systems, FRP and associated civil works.

This is not a traditional TMR road-infrastructure estimating position. We are looking for people who understand detailed civil construction packages, the methodologies behind them and the costs involved.

The Opportunities

• You will work alongside an experienced precontracts and project delivery team to prepare accurate, competitive tenders across complex civil construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to define scope and identify risks and opportunities.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, estimates, pricing schedules and tender submissions.
• Estimate basement and bulk excavation, earthworks, piling, retention systems, FRP, drainage and roadworks packages.
• Assess labour, plant, materials and subcontractor quotations and develop practical construction methodologies.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, project teams and clients to clarify scope and refine pricing.
• Use CostX estimating software to develop and manage estimates.
• Contribute to tender strategy, value engineering and handover to delivery teams.

What we are looking for

• Experience with CostX estimating software (highly regarded; proficiency requirements to be confirmed).
